Who every really believed DUST would be successful anyways... I mean, seriously: A free2play FPS explusive to a (soon to be) dying console? Who thought that was a good iea? Who would invest in something like that? I suppose I did. My hope was that it would eventually shift across to the PS4, gain traction and popularity, true connection to EVE Online and then it'd be ported to PC and merge into one game. Or at least launch from the same login screen. Wasn't that always CCP's vision? It's now apparent the logical reason is to build it for the Master Race and THEN try porting it to other platforms.
So are you Kiirtama Oinatsu? If so, I had no clue the whole time you were there in the chromosome build lol |

This reveal and Dust community have been handled in extremely incompetent manner. Whoever decided that this is the way to do it all should be moved to other duties, for PR is certainly not part of their skillset. The DUST 514 PR is taken care of by Mintchip. This was the girl who just a week before being hired by CCP, would not stop bashing EVE and saying how much CCP was a horrible company, while at the same time trying to get neckbeards to buy her things from her amazon wishlist. This seems wholly in line with hiring someone so inexperienced and outright bad for a PR role. Bad choices by CCP aside, yes it is a PR nightmare and I hear from some posts that sony is even reimbursing recent "arum" purchases due to this whole issue? If so, that's pretty impressive since Sony takes a really hard line on refunds and usually just says tough luck.
Lol Mintchip got fired a long time ago, very quickly in fact. I only saw her post at most 4 times. |

Cheng Musana wrote:Hmm ive heard that the Devs will try to move the Dust toons onto Legion. Well thats competition destroyed for eve players. if only 100 of the top Dust players will move to Legion then they wil havel a head start of like 50million SP+ (thats if Legion would start today). And we all know that FPS players only play with their lvl of skill. Gonna be interesting to see how a 0SP player (who's mainly a pilot) will hold up against Dust vets.
This will most certainly be problematic cause i still assume that Legion will just be a polished Dust514. And that means the Dust players know how everything work before every 1 else. I say only 2 words: "proto stomping".
Even if DUST SP does get transfered, the skill system is changing dramatically (for the worse) so not all of the SP is going to make it through. Also, DUST players are used to playing on a controller with an aim assist that does %60 of the work for them, If you've played PC shooters before, you should be fine. |

Webvan wrote:If it's going to be stupid micro transactions, I'll still play. There was this game (wont mention name) I was in early beta then open beta. I carried a sub as it wasn't f2p. Eventually it went f2p, I ran with an f2p account and spent money. I went from spending $15/m to about $3/mo. Played another year, the community changed, it sucked, I stopped playing. I pref a nice tight community subscription game, but I'll still play if it's f2p... and probably spend very little.
They would be better off doing something like Quake Live does, and no real pay to win. Limited free and premium accounts on a sub. Yes, QL operates off of a subscription model.

I'd ask that any EVE players here in support of project legion go to this page and like it http://dust514.com/news/blog/2014/05/introducing-project-legion/
There are some very stupid bunnies assuming facebook likes on a dev blog that no one reads = community reception but I wouldn't be suprised to learn that this is what CCP is using to gauge reception |
